Pre-Service Educator (Internship) | Pat's Schoolhouse @ Claymore | September 2020 - February 2021
During my final year, I got the opportunity to intern at a private childcare organisation for 22 weeks. Through my internship, I planned and implemented 10 lesson plans across the 6 main learning domains for 12 children from Kindergarten 1 and 2 (5 - 6 years old).

Lessons were engaging and received good feedback from my mentor. With feedbacks given for every lesson, I constantly find ways to improve my lesson and the way it is being delivered.
Apart from planning and implementing lesson plans in my attached class, I have also helped other younger classes with routine care when needed. As I was there daily, I helped out with the daily traffic routines such as arrivals and dismissals. I was also involved in preparing materials for various celebrations and events such as Teachers Day.
As part of my internship deliverables, I had to also create a Take-home kit that promotes parental involvement and a school-community project.
Along with the school's help, I collaborated with St. John Home for the Elderly Persons to help raise funds by doing a car wash event. The event received positive responses from both children's parents and the organisation. By the end of the event, we raised a total of about $7000 and funds raised were given to the organisation to purchase electronic devices for the beneficiaries to stay in contact with their loved ones during this pandemic.

Key takeaways
This internship allowed me to grow professionally and honed my classroom management skills. I was able to apply many teaching strategies taught in school into practice.
Through my involvement in various events and celebrations, I have developed the qualities needed to be a competent and reflective educator.
The experiences gained shaped me into someone who is proactive and observant. It has taught me to value every child's opinion to nurture them into confident individuals that are challengers of the future.
Pre-Service Educator (Practicum II) | PCF SPARKLETOTS Preschool | October 2019 - November 2019
During my 2nd year in my course of study, I was attached to PCF SPARKLETOTS Preschool for 22 working days.
I was tasked to plan and execute 3 lessons based on the interest of 12 Nursery 2 children (3 - 4 years old) in the centre. The 3 lessons were namely Music and movement, Art and Numeracy.

Lessons were well received by children, host teacher and supervisor. Some comments included "Lessons planned were developmentally appropriate for selected age group" and "Lessons were very hands-on and kept children engaged throughout the lesson"
This experience enabled me to build my confidence as I deliver lessons in front of children. I was also able to apply knowledge learnt in school such as classroom management strategies into practice.
Key takeaways
I constantly reflected on my practices and feedbacks given so that, I could be an educator who is able to differentiate teaching styles to cater to individual learners. It was definitely heartwarming and fulfilling to see children having fun when I was implementing my 3 lessons. I was motivated and learnt to purposefully plan lessons that will spark children's curious to explore freely.
