MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

I am a strong believer that children learn, think and explore through meaningful hands-on experiences. An enriching and welcoming environment should also be inculcated to spur children to have fun and learn through play and exploration.

Thus, I seek opportunities to provide children with multi-sensorial learnings for their growth and holistic development. I strive to develop and nurture them into unique individuals with the 21st-century competencies.

ASPIRATIONS

I enjoy interacting with children and have always been interested to help children at the other end of the spectrum find themselves and express their needs. Therefore, I aspire to be a psychologist that specialises in Early Intervention for the young. I plan to do so by pursuing a Bachelors of Arts and Social Science in Psychology and volunteering at Rainbow Centre Singapore in the near future.

During my course of study, I honed my teamwork, communication and resilience skills. I worked together with my peers to devise materials for our assignments within a tight schedule. I developed adaptability as I constantly made myself work with teammates whom I was not familiar with. Despite working with unfamiliar people, I adapted and tried my best to work well with people of different working styles and group dynamics.

Additionally, I also developed confidence and leadership skills where I took up the role as a group leader for various group projects.

Professional Skills

Throughout my 3 years studying in the Early Childhood field, I have gained classroom management and curriculum planning skills that allowed me to teach and plan developmentally appropriate lessons for young children. Being bilingual in English and Mandarin, I was able to converse and utilised my writing skills in school and to external organisations related to the Early Childhood industry.
