Newsletter | Art lesson implementation | 24th October 2019

As part of my practicum task, I was tasked to collate my Art lesson into a 3-page newsletter. I used Canva - an application to design it. 

The newsletter consists of an overview of the lesson, lesson structure, the challenges faced and my reflection after the lesson.

I designed an infographic about Parental Involvement for an individual assignment. I utilised applications such as Canva and Youtube to design it. 

This infographic focuses on the importance of Parental Involvement in a child's preschool years and how educators could promote Parental Involvement in class. 

Well received by module lecturer. Comments included "Excellent understanding of Parental Involvement and good suggestions given". 

Key takeaways 

I learnt how to organise information neatly so it will look pleasing for readers and learnt how to better promote parental involvement in preschools. 

Tri-fold Brochure | Children with Hearing Impairments | 30th May 2019

I designed a Tri-fold Brochure on children who are hearing impaired for an individual assignment. I utilised Applications such as Pages and Google images to design it. 

This Brochure is designed for teachers where it addresses the potential challenges that children with Hearing Impairment faced in preschool. It also contain possible accommodations that teachers could adapt to make them feel better. 

Well received by module lecturer. Comments included "Neatly chunked with good amount of elaboration with usage of holdings to highlight keywords from the issue". 

Key takeaways 

I learnt how to made the brochure concise at the same time visually appealing. I also learnt to take into considerations the things to take note about when having children of such impairment in class.

Floor Plan | Preschool classroom environment | 21st May 2019

I conscientiously planned a preschool classroom environment using the layout given for an individual assignment. I applied the Principles of Effective Organisation by Crowther (2016) and kept in mind the types of learning centres available. 

I applied tips and strategies taught in a module called "Learning Environment and Classroom Management" during the 2nd year of my course of study.  

Well received by module lecturer. Comments included "Good effort in trying to apply most of the principles to your classroom layout".

I learnt how to organise a classroom setting more appropriately so that children would have a conducive learning environment to learn and play when in school.  

Readers Theatre Performace| The Fruit Bowl | 6th August 2019

I was tasked to adapt a children's picturebook and incorporate it with an award-winning children's picturebook into a reader's theatre performance for a group assignment.  

Together with 3 other members, we innovated and came out with our own scripts and props. 

Well received by module lecturer. Comments included "Performace was engaging and managed to stay calm despite having wardrobe malfunction". 

Key takeaways 

I have learnt how to stay calm and worked together with my team within the tight schedule. 

Musical instrument| Art Elements | 28th January 2019

I crafted a routine song for children and made instruments using recycled materials as a group assignment. 

Together with 2 other members, we made our instruments using recycled materials that we could find at our house and decorated it using the elements of art. I created my instrument out of a tissue box to represent the music element - Beat and used Finger painting to represent the art element - Lines. 

Key takeaways 

I have developed better time management skills as my group and I rushed to finish this assignment.
